Once you start packing you need to have the following supplies at hand:
Plenty of different size boxes, a strong marker pen, bubble wrap, tissue paper, newspaper, and scissors. Make sure the boxes you use are sturdy and can be closed tightly with tape.
You may need to buy special boxes for fragile items such as dishes and glasses.
Where possible, pack audio and video equipment in the original box.
Take care not to put more than 50lbs into any single box.
Each box should be labelled clearly and indicate which room it is destined for, whether it is fragile and if it is important when it is unloaded – i.e. should it come off the van first or can it wait till last.
You can save room by wrapping your fragile items with your towels and blankets.
Heavy items such as books should be packed tightly in smaller boxes.
Don’t pack your valuables such as jewellery or important documents, carry these items on your person.
